How do you brand yourself online?

There are several steps that you can brand yourself online. Here are a few to help with your branding.

Reputation

The first step is to make sure that you clean up your online reputation. This means that you are going to need to Google yourself to see if there are things out there that you might not want anyone to see. Then if there is, then you are going to need to contact the website to see if you can get those things removed. It is also a good idea to set an alert on Google with your name so that you are going to know if there is any new content about you that hits the internet, you will know right away.

Real

The second step is to be as real as possible. You are going to need to be authentic but you should not embellish or brag about yourself. This is because if you are too boastful with your branding, then the employers are going to be able to see right through it. This means that they are going to develop a negative impression on you.

Theme

The third step is to come up with a theme. It is good to pick something that is bold, so that it is going to show that you are unique or diverse. This means that you don’t want to be all over the place because the employers are going to doubt that you have any sincerity for the dedication for your field. The best thing to do is to buy a URL for your name if that is possible so that you can host it on the online portfolio.

You

The fourth step is that you don’t want to make all of your branding about you. This means that you are going to want to talk about some of the contributions that you have done in your field. This is the best way that you are going to be able to show the employers that you are going to be able to add some value to their business. You should also show the employers how you will be able to support all of your colleagues through your social media or blog.

Current

The fifth step is to make sure that you are able to keep your brand current. Things are always changing about you so you want to make sure that your online presence is going to change too. All of your professional pages are going to need to be updated on a regular basis along with the social media websites and blogs. But it is important to make sure that the personal brand is consistent and relevant throughout all of your social media channels for the employers.
