How CDN Works?
Servers near to the website visitor respond to request and the Content Delivery Network will copy pages of website into the server network dispersed at the different locations geographically and caches content in page. Upon the request of the user, the webpage will be redirected from the originating server of site to the server in the CDN closest to the user with delivering cached content. CDN communicate with originating the server with delivering the content that is not cached previously. When Content is sent from origin of the server to website visitor, speed of the transfer also depends on physical distance between them with certain degree. Normally, Speed of transfer depends on physical distance as well as various other factors. When round-trips data travels to longer distance then it takes longer for the webpage to open. CDN does not replace the web hosting or any other services with it. CDN is an additional network that stores static content and serves cache with geographically distributed servers. The infrastructure of CDN includes origin server so the owner can use it to store and upload the content. Edge servers will be distributed in several regions of datacenters called as Points of Presence (PoPs). When a user sends the request for content or webpage, then it would be directed to origin server and content will be transferred to the user. Requested data will be saved on the edge servers then sent to the user when CDN is implemented.
